Health and Safety Ireland is very proud to be involved with the South East Regional Family Support Network.
The team at Health and Safety Ireland are delighted and proud to integrate social concerns into our business on a voluntary basis through our interaction with the Family Support Network. We understand the importance of being a proactive part of a bigger system of people, values and organisations – we want to give and give back through our activities in a way that positively affects the community that we live in. Through the Family Support Network we support community investment and educational programmes. It is our pleasure to donate our expertise and administrative support to this valuable group.
Background
The South East Regional Family Support Network (SERFSN), established in 2004, is an organisation supporting family members affected by problem alcohol or drug use of a relative. We are a peer led organisation of family support groups offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place for family members to come together to get information and learn effective ways of responding to the problem.
There are groups in Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford, Tipperary and Wexford who meet regularly to support family members. Most families dealing with problem substance use are looking for answers. The answers they look for initially relate to their relative. In most cases, family members don’t realise that they need help for THEMSELVES. The key aim of peer family support is to empower the family member.
Anybody affected by these issues can find further help and information
